CULTURAL PROGRAM
We highly honour the first people of Australia and have incursions regularly to build on the children’s cultural awareness with local Bundjalung educators. This ihas included bush excursions with Auntie Delta and language with Uncle Gilbert. This year we will be running the Nninganah no More program with Uncle Gilber and Auntie tania Marlowe. We are also reaaly excited to have Uncle Roy Gordon revisiting our centre to porvide welcome to country and culture and language for the children .
Our program includes the 8 way approach which is: storytelling, community links, learning maps, deconstruct/construct, non linear, non verbal, symbols and images and landmarks.
Children have the opportunity to learn facts about our bush foods, dance, stories and Bundjalung culture. Children engage in daily acknowledgement of country. We have two lovely murals by Bundjalung artists, Oral Roberts, Tracy and Ken Gordon and Lewis Walker.
Our Bush Tucker Living Classroom nurtures this relationship and was seeded in reconciliation week in 2014 in consultation with Aunite Dory Gordon and Auintie Karyn Roberts. (Please refer to the Bush Tucker garden infomration for more about this)
